YEAR END PARTY – 6 DECEMBER 2003

This year’s party will once again take place at the Salle Communale in Bellevue.

Starting from 6:30 pm onwards (Dinner at 8), we look forward to seeing you there for an evening of dancing (DJ Jacky from Zurich), entertainment, food and fun for the entire family.

This will be also the occasion for us to wish our beloved Ambassador in Geneva, H.E. Prasad Kariyawasam, a fond farewell as he concludes his assignment at the end of the year.

FETE DE LA MUSIQUE 2003 – REPORT

We are pleased to announce that the SLAG held its most successful stand at the 2003 Fete de la Musique. We served nearly 2700 meals/plates this year (2000 plates in 2002; 1600 in 2001). Many thanks for the volunteers who helped at the stand and for the caterers for having provided delicious food.

This year’s profits will be focussed towards flood relief assistance in Sri Lanka.

FLOOD RELIEF ASSISTANCE

SLAG donated a sum of CHF 1400 to the Government of Sri Lanka, through the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Geneva, for flood relief assistance. Being that as it may, your Executive Committee has decided to allocate some of the proceeds from this year Fête de la Musique for specific private sector/NGO-driven flood rehabilitation projects. Members may participate in these projects by depositing their contributions in the SLAG Bank Account at UBS – 240-122793.LSC specifying ‘flood relief”.

18TH ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY – SUNDAY, 3 MARCH 2003

The Assembly reviewed and approved the minutes of the 17th AGM, annual report and the statement of accounts of the Association for 2002. It also elected an Executive Committee and an auditor for 2003.
The Committee consists of the following officials:

Year-End Party

The party will start from 18:30 with our chief guests, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the UN in Geneva and Mrs Prasad Kariyawasam and the SLAG Christmas Choir in attendance. Members wishing to be part of the Choir are requested to contact Upeka De Almeida (022) 796-0175 for further details. Members’ children wishing to participate in the nativity play are requested to contact Shelomi Dias (022) 788 4971 by 7 December. Members who wish to volunteer their services for the preparation of food and serving are kindly requested to contact Stanley Welikala at (0223456656 or mobile 079 5586871). We will also be requiring assistance for decorating the hall from 10:00 AM on Saturday. Members who wish to help in this area are requested to contact either Niroshini Epitawalage, at (022) 788-8018 or Upeka De Almeida at (022) 796-0175.

SRI LANKA DANCE THEATRE IN GENEVA

The Sri Lanka Association of Geneva presents “Sri Lanka Dance Theater” on 15 September 2002 at College de Saussure, Vieux-Chemin d’Onex 9, Petit Lancy, at 4 pm The Kulasiri Buduwatta Dance Troupe, is a popular and well known troupe from Sri Lanka.

ANNUAL PICNIC/SEVEN-A-SIDE CRICKET TOURNAMENT

10 AUGUST 2002

The above event will be held on
10 August 2002 at 10 a.m. with the participation of the Sri Lankan Cricket Club of Geneva and the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka. Four teams – two from the cricket Club, one from the Mission and the other from SLAG (mixed teams – with a minimum of 2 members of the opposite sex in each team) – will be fielded for this event to be held at the Bout-du-Monde grounds in Champel.
