Summer Picnic

The Summer Picnic held on Sunday, 26th August at the Parc de Jonc in Grand Saconnex was a huge success with the participation of not only those from Geneva but also Bern and Zurich as well. To make up for the lack of a Sinhala and Tamil New Year party, several fun activities and games like coconut scraping, tug-o-war, Kotta pora, sac race were organized with prizes. Almost all of the youngsters and most of the adults showed great sporting spirit by participating in at least one event and there were smiles and cheers all round for all the games.

Fete des Rues

The last fundraising event for the year was held in Paquis on 22nd and 23rd of September and again, we were lucky with the weather as it was regularly sunny with no rain. On the first day of the event, we did something different by selling Indian Pakoda (vegetables fried in batter) which proved to be quite a hit.

However, there were also many ‘SLAG food stall regulars’ who asked us for our typical Sri Lankan food (In fact quite a few had actively looked for our stall during lunch time). And so, the next day, we provided the traditional dish of rice, dhal, chicken curry and papadam and it goes without saying, that this was a definite hit!
