FETE DE LA MUSIQUE

The Sri Lankan Association organised a stall at the Fete de la Musique on June 18th – 20th 2004. As promised the organisation provided delicious Sri Lankan food. There were three different rice and curry menus served on each day together with a variety of cakes, fish rolls and Sri Lankan tea. Unfortunately unlike in previous years the location of the stall was disadvantageous to us and combined with the poor weather sales were not as successful as we had expected. However the association wishes to thank all the members who helped tirelessly at the stall and to all those who risked the rain and came to support us.

POSON BHAKTHI GEE

This was the first time the Sri Lankan Association organized this event. It was held at the Coudriers school hall on 29th May 2004. The event gave us an opportunity to enjoy the lovely musical talents of our membership. About 20 members of the Association and their children took part at the event singing traditional Buddhist songs. The performance lasted about one hour and 30 minutes.

We would like to thank all the members who helped to make lanterns, those who participated in the choir and members who sent their children to participate in the event.

A DAY TO REMEMBER FOR THE KIDS…

SLAG is planning a fun filled day out with a train ride to Morges or Lausanne for the children of our members (below 12) on September 5th. We will need at least 3 parents to volunteer to support this event. Costs for the children and members will be borne by the SLAG. Interested parents are requested to contact Shelomi Abeysinghe (022-7884971) or Indunil Wellikala (022 345 6656).

AU REVOIR SIMON & DEVI !

The Association sadly bids farewell to Mr & Mrs Simon Weerasuriya, who are leaving to reside in Sri Lanka after spending 27 years in Geneva.

Simon worked with the UN for over two decades while his wife Devi worked with the WHO for many years. They have both been keenly involved with the Association. While Simon has served in our Executive Committee for many years, Devi has helped us with many of our children’s performances at key events.

The Association wishes them all the very best for the future.
